Thermanit Chromo 9 V Mod. is a basic coated stick electrode with a 9Cr-1Mo-VNb type deposit, which after post weld heat treatment has a tempered martensitic structure. The range of applications covers joining tube, pipe, plate, forgings and castings made of creep resistant steels of the ASTM grade 91 class, working in thermal power and petrochemical plants.
The base materials are 1.4903 (X10CrMoVNb9-1), 1.4955 (GX12CrMoVNbN9-1) and 10Cr9. Compared with the standard version, the sum of manganese and nickel is held below 1.0 percent by weight here, which keeps the Ac1 temperature safely above 780 degrees C and widens the margin when choosing the tempering temperature. The coating was designed for difficult site conditions and a low level of diffusible hydrogen.

Choose the version with the reduced sum of manganese and nickel where the procedure calls for tempering at the upper temperature limit, close to Ac1. The rest of the regime stays the same: preheating, control of the interpass temperature, cooling and tempering to the data sheet. On small diameter tube reach for the 2.0 mm electrode and work at a low current. Use an opened pack within the shift.
