Thermanit JE-308L Cryo is a high alloyed austenitic stainless submerged arc (SAW) wire. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds. The deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so the wire reaches tanks and lines for liquefied gases, and it has an austenitic structure.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
