What Thermanit MTS 5 CoT TIG rod is used for

Thermanit MTS 5 CoT is a low-alloy, creep resistant TIG rod. It is used in boiler making, on pressure vessels and petrochemical installations.

The typical base material is 1.4915. The deposit resists creep at elevated temperature.

  • Classification EN ISO: 21952-A W Z CrCoW 11 2 2

  • Approvals: TÜV (10578), CE

Plan the preheating and the post weld heat treatment to the WPS for the grade in hand, CrMo steels harden in the heat affected zone. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
