Thermanit MTS 616 is a low-alloy, creep resistant TIG rod. It is used in boiler making, on pressure vessels and petrochemical installations.
Base materials are 1.4901 and ASTM A213. The rod runs well on robot and mechanised stations, and its deposit resists creep at elevated temperature.

Plan the preheating and the post weld heat treatment to the WPS for the grade in hand, CrMo steels harden in the heat affected zone. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
