Thermanit TG 308 L is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
It joins grades such as 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4311, 1.4306, X2CrNi1, 1.4541 and 1.4308 together with their equivalents, and the deposit resists intergranular corrosion.
- Classification EN ISO: T 19 9 L R M/C3
- AWS classification: E308LT0-4 ; E308LT0-1
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
