Thermanit TG 309 L is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4436, 1.4306, X2CrNi1, 1.4541 and 1.4308. The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even and the transitions to the parent metal are smooth.
- Classification EN ISO: T 23 12 L R M(C) 3
- AWS classification: E309LT0-4 ; E309LT0-1
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
