Union AlSi 12 is a solid MIG/MAG welding wire for aluminium and its alloys. It goes into transport, the food industry and structures built to resist atmospheric corrosion.
It joins materials such as AlSi7Mg0 and AlSi9Mg. The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch, and it suits both hand work and mechanised stations.
- Classification EN ISO: 18273 S Al 4047A (AlSi12(A))
- AWS classification: A5.10 / SFA-5.10 ER4047A
- Shielding gas: I1, I3
Push the torch and keep the wire path in the feeder short and straight, aluminium coils up easily in the liner. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. A change of shielding mixture changes the character of the arc, so it is worth a test piece before production.
