Union AlSi 5 is a solid MIG/MAG wire. It suits welding aluminium and its alloys and works on frames, tanks, housings and light structures.
It joins grades such as EN AW-6060, AlMgSi, AlMgSi0, AlSiMg, EN AW-6082, AlMgSi1 and EN AW-6061 together with their equivalents. The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, on aluminium structures, tanks, vehicle parts and shipbuilding products.
- Classification EN ISO: 18273 S Al 4043A (AlSi5(A))
- AWS classification: A5.10 / SFA-5.10 ER4043A
- Shielding gas: I1, I3
- Approvals: DB (61.132.02), CE
Remove the oxide layer with a stainless steel brush right before welding, aluminium oxide melts far higher than the metal itself. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion.
