What Union I Mo solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Union I Mo is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding creep-resistant CrMo steels. It is used on boilers, steam lines, refinery plant and parts working at elevated temperature.

Typical parent materials are P235GH, P265GH, S460N and ASTM A335. The wire does well on pipe welding, fill passes included, and on boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection, fed continuously under shielding gas.

  • Classification EN ISO: G MoSi
  • AWS classification: ER80S-G(A1)
  • Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 mm

Watch the hydrogen level, dry consumables and a preheated groove are the basic protection against cold cracking. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
