Union I CrMo is a solid MIG/MAG electrode wire for welding creep-resistant CrMo steels. It works in power generation, on superheaters, headers and pressure piping in chromium molybdenum steel.
It is used on grades such as 1.7335, 13CrMo4-5, ASTM A193, 1.7357 and G17CrMo5-5. The wire does well on pipe welding, fill passes included, on boilers under technical inspection and on steam lines and refinery plant.
- Classification EN ISO: G CrMo1Si
- AWS classification: ER80S-G [ER80S-B2
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Do not break off welding and do not let the joint cool below the interpass temperature before the fill is finished. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
