Union K 5 Ni is a solid MIG/MAG wire for mild and low-alloy steels, fine-grained grades included. It works on welded structures, halls, frames, machine parts and repairs of structural steel.
Parent materials are S355NL and S500QL. The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, in structural steelwork, on tanks, piping and series production.
- Classification EN ISO: G 50 5 M21 3Ni1/G 46 3 C1 3Ni1
- AWS classification: ER80S-G
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex face and no fusion into the edges. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
