Union K 56 is a solid MIG/MAG welding wire for mild and low-alloy steels, fine-grained grades included. It is used on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work on black steel.
It joins materials such as P235GH, P265GH, P355GH, S460N and ASTM A27. The wire does well on pipe welding, fill passes included, and it goes into shipbuilding and vessel repair.
- Classification EN ISO: G 46 2 C G4Si1 / G 46 4 M G4Si1
- AWS classification: ER70S-6
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Clean rust, paint and grease out of the groove, contaminated plate gives porosity even with well set parameters. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion.
