What Union Ni 1 MoCr solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Union Ni 1 MoCr is a low-alloyed, high-strength solid wire. It suits welding quenched and tempered high-strength steels on working machines, booms, cranes and structures that need a high yield strength.

The wire suits hand work with a semiautomatic torch and mechanised stations, fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas.

  • Classification EN ISO: 16834-A 55 6 ZMn3Ni 0.9 MoCr
  • AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER100S-G
  • Shielding gas: M21
  • Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm

Keep the heat input inside the range given by the steel maker, going beyond it lowers the strength of the joint. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
