What Union X 69 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Union X 69 is a low-alloyed, high-strength solid wire. It suits welding quenched and tempered high-strength steels on mobile structures, machine frames, cranes and parts built for a lower own weight.

Among the parent materials it covers S620Q, S620QL, S690Q, S690QL, S600MC, S650MC and S700MC, fed continuously under shielding gas from a semiautomatic torch.

  • Classification EN ISO: 16834-A G 69 4 M21 Mn3Ni1CrMo
  • AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER100S-G
  • Shielding gas: M21
  • Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (18928), DB (42.132.59), CE

Do not exceed the permitted interpass temperature, an overheated heat affected zone loses its toughness. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
