Union S 1 CrMo 9 is a low-alloy, creep resistant submerged arc (SAW) wire. It is used on boilers, steam pipelines, refinery installations and parts working at elevated temperature.
Typical base materials are 1.7386, X12CrMo9-1, 1.7388, X7CrMo9-1, 1.7389 and ASTM A217. The deposit resists creep at elevated temperature, and the wire goes into boiler making, pressure vessels and petrochemical installations.
- Classification EN ISO: 24598-A S S CrMo9
- AWS classification: A5.23 / SFA-5.23 EB8
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 3.0 mm
Do not interrupt welding and do not let the joint drop below the interpass temperature before the fill is finished. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
