UTP A 068 HH is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding nickel alloys. It works on boiler components, furnace parts, chemical installations and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from the torch of a semi-automatic set or from a feeder on a mechanised station. It is used on chemical process equipment, high temperature installations and mixed joints between nickel alloys and steels.
- Classification EN ISO: S Ni 6082 (NiCr20Mn3Nb)
- AWS classification: ERNiCr-3
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Degrease the joint before welding, because sulphur and lead residues left after machining cause hot cracking in nickel. Match the feed rolls to the wire diameter and inspect the liner, wire slip shows up at once as an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a stick-out drops the arc voltage and worsens penetration. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
