UTP UP 6222 Mo is a solid submerged arc wire in a nickel alloy of the NiCrMo-3 type, for corrosion resistant NiCrMo alloys of the 625 group. It is used on chemical process equipment, high temperature installations and mixed joints between nickel alloys and steels.
The wire suits grades such as UNS N06625, NiCr22Mo9Nb and X8Ni9. Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds.
- Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 6625 (NiCr22Mo9Nb)
- AWS classification: A5.14 / SFA-5.14 ERNiCrMo-3
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
