UTP A 80 Ni is a TIG rod in a nickel alloy of the Ni-1 type with excellent corrosion resistance. It is used on chemical process equipment, high temperature installations and mixed joints between nickel alloys and steels.
You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld. The rod also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and it is used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection.
- Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 2061 (NiTi3)
- AWS classification: A5.14 ER Ni-1
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (00951), ABS
Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
