What UTP A 776 TIG rod is used for

UTP A 776 is a TIG rod in a nickel alloy of the NiCrMo-4 type, for corrosion resistant NiCrMo alloys of the C276 group. It works on boiler components, furnace parts, chemical installations and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.

Base materials are NiMo16Cr15W and UNS N10276. TIG gives you full control over the heat input, and the rod covers tanks and pipework in nickel alloys as well as cladding layers on steel.

  • Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 6276 (NiCr15Mo16Fe6W4)
  • AWS classification: A5.14 ERNiCrMo-4
  • Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (03461), DNV, ABS

Degrease the joint before welding, because sulphur and lead residues left after machining cause hot cracking in nickel. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
