UTP A 722 is a TIG rod in a nickel alloy for highly corrosion resistant NiCrMo alloys of the C22 type. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.
The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face. It also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and it covers chemical process equipment, high temperature installations and mixed joints with steels.
- Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 6022 (NiCr21Mo13Fe4W3)
- AWS classification: A5.14 ERNiCrMo-10
- Diameters: 2.4 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and limit weaving, nickel is prone to hot cracking. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own.
