WEARcore 768-S is a submerged arc cored wire that deposits a ferritic martensitic steel with nitrogen added, which improves the resistance to thermal fatigue and intragranular corrosion by reducing carbide formation at the grain boundaries.
Submerged arc welding gives a very high deposition rate on long, repeatable welds. The wire is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. Previously sold as SK 768-S.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 T Z Fe7
- AWS classification: 8555 UP 5-GF-350-C
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Hardness of deposit: 36 HRC
Check how many layers you need to reach the target hardness, the first layer always mixes with the base material. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
