WEARcore MnCr13-S is a multi-purpose submerged arc cored wire used mainly for rebuilding and joining carbon steels and 14 percent manganese steels.
The wire works as a set with a matched flux, which decides the mechanical properties of the weld. It is used on mechanised stations, on butt welds in plate and circumferential welds on tanks. Previously sold as SK AP-S.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 T Fe9
- AWS classification: 8555 UP 7-GF-200-KP
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Hardness of deposit: 190 HB (as-welded) Record SA Record SR
Expect a network of shrinkage cracks in hard overlays, on working deposits this is normal, but it must not reach into the parent material. Keep an even flux layer over the arc, too thin a layer exposes the arc and too thick a one spoils the bead shape. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off.
