3Dprint AM 316L Si is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, and it also serves in WAAM additive manufacturing. It works on pressure vessels, piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
- AWS classification: AiSi 316LSi - 1.4430
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint.
