Avesta 2205 is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding duplex and superduplex steels. It goes on tanks, pipelines and chemical or marine structures that need strength and corrosion resistance at the same time.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from a semiautomatic torch, and it suits both hand work and mechanised stations.
- Classification EN ISO: G 22 9 3 N L
- AWS classification: ER2209
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Do not quench the joint with water and do not force the cooling, too fast a cooling rate leaves too much ferrite in the weld. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
