Avesta 307-Si is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, both by hand with a semiautomatic torch and on mechanised stations.
- Classification EN ISO: G 18 8 Mn
- AWS classification: ER307 (mod.)
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
