Avesta 308L-Si/MVR-Si is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. Typical work covers tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.
It joins materials such as 1.4301, 1.4307, 304L, 1.4311, 304LN and 1.4541, by hand with a semiautomatic torch and on mechanised stations.

Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
