Thermanit L is a solid MIG/MAG electrode wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
Typical parent materials are 1.4340, 1.4347, 1.4821 and AISI 327. The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, on tanks, process plant and equipment in contact with water and steam.
- Classification EN ISO: G 25 4
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
