Avesta 316L-Si/SKR-Si is a TIG welding rod for stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
Base materials are 1.4436, 1.4432, 316L, 1.4429 and 1.4571. The deposit resists intergranular corrosion, and the rod goes into process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
