Thermanit JE-308L Cryo is a high alloyed TIG rod with controlled ferrite content of 0.02. It is used on process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Base materials include 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4306, X2CrNi19-11, 1.4307, X2CrNi18-9 and 1.4311. The deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so it reaches tanks and lines for liquefied gases.

Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the bead face. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
