Thermanit JE-308L Si is a high alloyed austenitic stainless TIG rod. It goes into tanks, process pipelines and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4301, X5CrNi18-10, 1.4306, X2CrNi19-11, 1.4307, X2CrNi18-9 and 1.4311, along with related materials. It also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, and its deposit has an austenitic structure that resists corrosion.

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield.
