Avesta 318-Si/SKNb-Si is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
The rod suits grades such as 1.4571. Its deposit composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, and typical work covers tanks, process installations, food and chemical industry equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than you need to, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
