Avesta FCW-2D 309L is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used in tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.
The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even and the transitions to the parent metal are smooth, while the rutile core gives a fast freezing pool and slag that lifts easily. The wire goes on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
- Classification EN ISO: T 23 12 L R M/C 3
- AWS classification: E309LT0-4 ; E309LT0-1
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture.
