Avesta P5 is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
The wire suits hand work with a semiautomatic torch and mechanised stations, it also serves for cladding runs on steel, and it works on pressure vessels, piping and austenitic structures.
- Classification EN ISO: G 23 12 2 L
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
