BÖHLER CM 5-IG is a low-alloy, creep resistant TIG rod. It is used in boiler making, on pressure vessels and petrochemical installations.
Base materials include 1.7362, X11CrMo5, 1.7365, GX15CrMo5, 1.7353, 1.7373 and X7CrMo6-1. The deposit resists creep at elevated temperature, and you feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld.
- Classification EN ISO: 21952-A W CrMo5Si
- AWS classification: A5.28 ER80S-B6

- Approvals: TÜV (0724), CE
Watch the hydrogen level, dry consumables and a preheated groove are your basic protection against cold cracking. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
