BÖHLER CM 9-IG is a low-alloy, creep resistant TIG rod. It works in power plant, on superheaters, headers and pressure pipework in chromium molybdenum steels.
The rod suits grades such as 1.7386, X11CrMo9-1, 1.7388, X7CrMo9-1 and ASTM A 182. Its deposit resists creep at elevated temperature.
- Classification EN ISO: 21952-A WZ CrMo9 Si
- AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER80S-B9
- Shielding gas: I1
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (2182), CE
Plan the preheating and the post weld heat treatment to the WPS for the grade in hand, CrMo steels harden in the heat affected zone. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
