BÖHLER CN 23/12-IG is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
The rod suits grades such as S500N. It covers root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face, and it works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance matters.
- Classification EN ISO: W 23 12 L
- AWS classification: ER309L
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
