BÖHLER EAS 4 M-IG is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, pipework and austenitic steel structures where corrosion resistance matters.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4435, 1.4436, 1.4571, 1.4580 and 1.4583, along with related materials. The deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so it also goes into tanks for liquefied gases, and its composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop.
