BÖHLER EMK 6 is a TIG rod for mild steel. It is used on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work on plain carbon steel.
Base materials include S235JR, S355JR, S235J0, S355J0, S235J2, S355J2 and S275N. The rod is also used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection.

Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex bead and no fusion into the edges. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
