BÖHLER EMK 8 is a TIG rod for mild steel. It is used in steel construction, on tanks, pipework and series production.
The rod joins grades such as S235JR, S355JR, S235J0, S355J0, S450J0, S235J2 and S355J2, along with related materials. It is used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection, and on welded structures, halls, frames and machine parts.

Clean rust, paint and grease out of the groove, contaminated plate gives porosity even with the parameters set correctly. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
