BÖHLER FA-IG is a TIG rod for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process installations, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Base materials include 1.4821, 1.4823, 1.4713, 1.4724, 1.4742, 1.4762 and 1.4710. You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld, which suits tanks, process pipelines and welds that need a smooth face.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop.
