BÖHLER FF-IG is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
It joins grades such as 1.4828, 1.4826, 1.4833, X12CrNi23-13, 1.4713, 1.4724 and 1.4742 together with their equivalents, including boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection.
- Classification EN ISO: G 22 12 H
- AWS classification: ER309 (mod.)
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
