BÖHLER FOX 3,5 Ni is a nickel alloyed basic coated electrode of the E7018-C2L H4 type, intended for steels working at low temperatures and for nickel alloyed structural steels. The deposit keeps its toughness down to -105 degrees C.
The base materials are S275N to S420N, S275NL to S420NL, P275NL2 to P355NL2, S420NL and the nickel grades 12Ni14 and X12Ni5. The diffusible hydrogen stays below 5 ml per 100 g of weld metal. The manufacturer allows alternating current and DC with the electrode positive, and production covers diameters up to 6.0 mm.
- Classification EN ISO 2560-A: E 42 6 3Ni B 3 2 H5
- AWS classification A5.5 / SFA-5.5: E7018-C2L H4
- Coating: basic
- Current: AC/DC+
- Diameters: 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 mm
- Lengths: 350 and 450 mm
- Approvals: DNV, CE
Cryogenic installations are accepted after impact testing at the design temperature, so keep to the heat input in the procedure and do not improvise while filling the groove. Dry the electrodes to the data sheet, because moisture means hydrogen and hydrogen means cracks in a nickel bearing deposit. Short beads and a temperature check between passes give repeatable results. Leave the 6.0 mm diameter for the flat position.
