BÖHLER FOX DMV 83 Kb is a core wire alloyed covered electrode with a basic coating. The 0.5Cr-1Mo-0.5V type deposit has a bainitic structure and good mechanical properties in the tempered condition. The manufacturer directs it to joints in creep resistant steels and cast steels of this class in thermal power plants.
The base material is 1.7715 (14MoV6-3). The approval covers service under creep conditions at design temperatures up to 580 degrees C. The basic coating keeps the level of diffusible hydrogen in the weld low, and the metal recovery is 115 percent.

Steel with vanadium calls for careful stress relieving, and a furnace run that falls short will show up in the creep test results. Before welding, preheat the part to the temperature in the data sheet and hold it without breaks. Lay narrow beads side by side, without wide weaving. Keep the electrodes in a portable quiver for the whole time you work.
