BÖHLER FOX DCMV is a covered electrode with a basic coating for manual arc welding. The 1.25Cr-1Mo-0.25V type deposit has a bainitic structure and good mechanical properties in the tempered and in the quenched and tempered condition. The manufacturer directs it to joints in creep resistant steels and cast steels of the G17CrMoV5-10 kind, used in thermal power plants.
The base materials are 1.7706 (17CrMoV5-10), 1.8070 (21CrMoV5-11) and 1.7745 (15CrMoV5-10). The approval covers service under creep conditions up to 600 degrees C. The coating gives a low level of diffusible hydrogen, and the metal recovery is 115 percent. The material carries TÜV and LTSS approvals.

Cast steel can be uneven, so before a repair cut the defect back to sound material and check the result with a dye penetrant test. Hold the preheat through the whole welding operation, and on large castings use heating mats rather than a torch. Vanadium in the deposit calls for stress relieving according to the data sheet of the base material. Dry the electrodes and carry them in a quiver, because class H5 applies only to a dry coating.
