BÖHLER FOX EV 64 is a basic coated electrode with a NiMo deposit of particular metallurgical purity, of the E9018-G type. The manufacturer intended it for the construction of nuclear reactors, boilers and pressure vessels, and for fine grained steels up to and including the grade S500Q. The deposit is subjected to non destructive testing.
The base materials are S420N to S500Q and the grades 20MnMoNi55, 22NiMoCr37, 15NiCuMoNb5, 18NiMoCr37 and 11NiMoV53. The diffusible hydrogen content of the deposit falls below 5 ml per 100 g. The electrode runs on alternating current and on DC with the electrode positive, and among the approvals is KTA, the set of rules for nuclear power.

On joints under statutory inspection keep records of the electrode batch from the moment the pack is opened, because storage conditions count at acceptance as well. Dry and store the material strictly to the instructions, a KTA approval does not work on damp electrodes. Lay narrow beads and measure the interpass temperature before every pass. Plan the post weld heat treatment according to the base material.
