What BÖHLER FOX NiCuCr stick electrode is used for

BÖHLER FOX NiCuCr is a basic coated electrode with a NiCuCr deposit, of the E8018-W2 H4R type, for welding weather resistant structural steels. The composition of the deposit is close to that of weathering steel, so the weld behaves in the atmosphere much like the parent metal.

The base materials are S235JRG2, S235J2, S235J0, S235JRW, S355J0 and S355J2. The mechanical properties are very good and the crack resistance stays high even with the parts heavily restrained. From one electrode you deposit about 115 percent of the mass of the core wire as weld metal. The electrode runs easily in every position except vertical-down. The diffusible hydrogen does not exceed 4 ml per 100 g of weld metal, because the coating is protected against picking up moisture.

On weathering steels see to it that the weld face is smooth and free of notches, because water stays longer in hollows and the patina builds up unevenly. Clean scale and grease off the groove and the strip alongside the weld. Protect parts exposed to rain for the time of assembly, and weld on a dry surface. Keep the electrodes in a quiver, like every basic type.
