BÖHLER FOX DMO Ti is a core wire alloyed covered electrode with a rutile coating for manual arc welding. The deposit with 0.5 percent molybdenum has an acicular ferrite and bainite structure, which is good in the as welded condition and after heat treatment. The manufacturer recommends it above all for wall thicknesses up to 30 mm and for root runs.
The base materials are S235JR to S355JR, P195TR1 to P265TR1, the pipe grades L245NB to L415NB and L245MB to L450MB, and 16Mo3 and L450QB. For service under creep conditions the material is approved at design temperatures up to 550 degrees C. The rutile coating gives very good slag detachability, and the electrode runs on direct as well as alternating current.

For pipe roots take the 2.5 mm diameter and guide the electrode with light pressure into the gap, and the penetration comes out even. A rutile coating does not need the drying regime of a basic one, but damp electrodes will still give porosity. On 16Mo3 steel match the preheat to the wall thickness. On DC connect the holder to the negative pole, and on an older transformer work on alternating current.
