BÖHLER FOX CM 5 Kb is a covered electrode with a basic coating for manual arc welding. The 5Cr-0.6Mo type deposit has a martensitic-bainitic structure and good mechanical properties in the tempered and in the quenched and tempered condition. The manufacturer directs it to joints in creep resistant steels and cast steels of this class in thermal power and chemical plants.
The base grades are 1.7362 (X11CrMo5), 1.7365 (GX15CrMo5) and 1.7353 (12CrMo19-5). The approval covers long term service under creep conditions up to 650 degrees C. The basic coating gives a low level of diffusible hydrogen, and the metal recovery is about 115 percent.

At 5 percent chromium the heat affected zone hardens in air, so preheating and post weld annealing are compulsory, according to the data sheet of the base material. Hold the interpass temperature throughout the work, in the breaks as well. Bake the electrodes and carry them in a portable quiver. After the last bead do not leave the joint in a draught, cover it with an insulating mat.
