BÖHLER FOX CN 18/11 is a basic coated, core wire alloyed electrode of the E 19 9 N / E308-15 type, with a controlled delta ferrite content in the range 3 to 8 FN. The manufacturer intended it for heat resistant austenitic CrNi steels with a raised carbon content, such as 1.4948 (304H), in boiler, reactor and turbine fabrication.
The base materials are 1.4878 (X8CrNiTi18-10), 1.4912 (X7CrNiNb18-10) and 1.4940 (X7CrNiTi18-10). The approval covers long term service up to 700 degrees C, and in wet corrosion up to 300 degrees C. The deposit stands up well to hot cracking and welding is possible in every position except vertical-down. The material also suits the grades 1.4550 (347) and 1.4541 (321), which are approved up to 550 degrees C.
- Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 19 9 B 4 2
- AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E308-15
- Coating: basic
- Current: DC+
- Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
- Lengths: 250 and 350 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (00138), KTA 1408.1 (08067), CE
The delta ferrite content of 3 to 8 FN is an acceptance parameter here, so do not change the composition of the weld by mixing in another electrode grade. In a wet environment the service temperature limit drops to 300 degrees C, so check the conditions of the installation before choosing the material. Keep a short arc and narrow beads, and let the joint cool between passes. On work under nuclear inspection keep records of the electrode batch from the moment the pack is opened.
