BÖHLER FOX CN 20/25 M-A is a rutile coated, core wire alloyed stick electrode of the E 20 25 5 Cu N L R / E385-17 (mod.) type for highly molybdenum alloyed austenitic stainless steels such as 1.4539 / UNS S08904. The maker names sulphur and phosphorus production, the pulp and paper industry, flue gas desulphurisation, desalination plants, fertiliser production, petrochemicals, acetic and formic acid production, pickling plants and heat exchangers cooled with seawater.
The base materials are 1.4505 (X4NiCrMoCuNb20-18-2), 1.4506 (X5NiCrMoCuTi20-18) and 1.4537 (X1CrNiMoCuN25-25-5). The deposit is over-alloyed in molybdenum to 6.2 percent by weight and the PREN is at least 44. The electrode handles easily in all positions except vertical down, the slag detaches well and the bead comes out smooth and finely rippled with no residues.
- Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 20 25 5 Cu N L R 3 2
- AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E385-17 (mod.)
- Coating: rutile
- Current: AC/DC+
- Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
- Lengths: 300 and 350 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (06634), CE
The rutile version is more convenient than the basic CN 20/25 M on site and on longer welds, but it needs the same thermal care. Keep the heat input and the interpass temperature low, run narrow beads and fill the craters. When you weld 1.4539, avoid excessive dilution from the parent metal. Store the electrodes in a dry place.
